Being a child born into a family of 11, Ben Fonseca never did have the feeling of being lonesome. In the fall of 1997, he was born to his loving mother and father on September 22, in Chicago, IL. Rumor has it that as a child Ben was a joyful, enthusiastic, and outgoing adolescent. He and his family of 11 reside in a town on the outskirts of Chicago, a small Hispanic community named Cicero. Ben and his family have lived there for over 15 years and continue to see the changes of the town.
Ben is currently enrolled in Northridge Prep and will be a junior in the fall. There he is an active member of the High school newspaper, “Prospectus”, as well as a varsity member of the soccer team. He plans on bringing his love and talent of Journalism, and the writing skills developed at Midtown this summer to the upcoming school yearbook. Ben also hopes to become more involved with the schools extracurricular activities. These include the writing club, band, and assisting with various forms of volunteer work.
His love for Literature and passion for Journalism has been his motivation as he continues to strive toward his aspirations. Attending Midtown for seven years, this center has become a second home not only for Ben, but young men alike. With help from Ben’s parents, school staff, advisors, and spiritual directors; Ben has developed into the young man he was born and raised to become. Midtown has been instrumental in carving a bright future for this intelligent young man, and his aspirations have become much more attainable, thanks to Midtown.
